KEW GARDEN

The Royal Botanic Gardens comprise 300 riverside acres, planted with every conceivable variety of tree, shrub and flower. There are over 50, 000 different species of plants. In summer it's a wonderful place to be.

Visit the seven glasshouses, including the steamy, tropical Palm House, where you can look down on a jungle of palms and fern. Kew also boasts the finest collection of orchids in the world. Look out for the Japanese Gateway, the Great Pagoda and Queen Charlotte's Cottage. Kew is now one of the world's most important botanical research centres.
